Outdoor lights: If you have a spot light type fixture you are probably using too much electricity. You can get a High Pressure Sodium fixture that will illuminate about twice as much and use half as much power consumption. The only downfall is that they cost more but it will pay itself off in no time.

Heating and A/C: First it's a good Idea to have ceiling fans throughout the house, I'll explain why. When the heat is on, the heat rises to the ceiling and it stays there, when the A/C is on, cool air descends to the floor and it stays there. The room will always have drafts and hot or cold spots making your A/C or Heating system come on more frequently. Here is were the ceiling fans come in handy. A ceiling fan draws about the same as a 100W light bulb. Having the fans on low in the summer blowing down and in the winter blowing up (reverse) it will circulate the air in the room more evenly causing your A/C or heating units to run less. Temperature settings with fans could be set at 68 degrees in the winter and 78 degrees in the summer.
